Abstract & Keywords
Abstract: Due to climate change, global extremely low-temperature events occur frequently, which have serious impacts on the development of human society and the economy. Accurate identification of extremely low-temperature events is the key strategy to reduce and resist the disasters caused by extreme low temperature. Based on gridded daily minimum temperature datasets with a resolution of 0.25 °×0.25 ° in the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), a more efficient method was developed to detect extreme low-temperature events during 1961–2015 over the CPEC region., This method involves defining the extremely low-temperature threshold, eliminate the areas with high temperature, and identify the extreme low temperature events with different durations. The comparison with historical extremely low-temperature events shows that this data set has high accuracy and reliability. This data set can provide data support for risk assessment of extreme low temperature events in the CPEC region.
