Abstract & Keywords
Abstract: This paper is the first open-ended and nonprofit temporal-spatial dataset of offshore wind energy resource for the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. First, we systemically presented the calculation methods of a series of key parameters of wind energy. Then we extracted a range of useful information about wind energy development from the original big data with large volume and low information density, including the wind power density (WPD), effective wind speed occurrence (EWSO), energy level occurrences, coefficient of variation (Cv), monthly variability index (Mv), seasonal variability index (Sv), total storage, effective storage and technological storage. This dataset can provide data support for relevant decision makers, researchers and engineers, and serve as scientific basis for the efficient industrialization of offshore wind energy development, as well as a technical way to overcome the power dilemma faced by the construction of the Maritime Silk Road.

(1) Monthly wind power density (WPD) of multi-year average status of the Maritime Silk Road from January to December, named “WPD.dat”.
(2) Monthly effective wind speed occurrence (EWSO) of multi-year average status of the Maritime Silk Road from January to December, named “EWSO.dat”.
(3) Monthly available level occurrence (ALO, occurrence of WPD greater than 100 W/m2) of multi-year average status of the Maritime Silk Road from January to December, named “ALO.dat”.
(4) Monthly rich level occurrence (RLO, occurrence of WPD greater than 200 W/m2) of multi-year average status of the Maritime Silk Road from January to December, named “RLO.dat”.
(5) Coefficient of variation (Cv) of multi-year average status of the Maritime Silk Road from January to December, named “Cv.dat”.
(6) Monthly variability index (Mv) of multi-year average status of the Maritime Silk Road from January to December, named “Mv.dat”.
(7) Seasonal variability index (Sv) of multi-year average status of the Maritime Silk Road from January to December, named “Sv.dat”.
