Abstract & Keywords
Abstract: Lingbei Mining Area is the main production area of ion-type rare earth mines in South China. The serious land desertification caused by rare earth mining has become a key constraint to the sustainable development of the ion-type rare earth industry. Through adopting the random forest algorithm to extract land desertification information, we compiled in this paper the 29-period the thematic dataset of the land desertification in Lingbei Mining Area from 1986 to 2019. In order to improve the reliability of quantitative inversion of desertification, we verified the quality and accuracy of the dataset by selecting sample points selected on Google images. Taking the 2018 data as an example, the overall accuracy of land desertification classification was 93%, and the kappa coefficient was 90.67%. This dataset contains the 29-period classification data of land desertification in Lingbei Mining Area from 1986 to 2019. According to the field investigation, it is divided into four grades: no desertification, mild desertification, moderate desertification and severe desertification. Users can search and retrieve data in terms of yearly period of data. The establishment and sharing of the land desertification dataset in Lingbei Mining Area can reflect the degree of desertification in Lingbei rare earth mining area in different mining periods and the temporal and spatial changes of land desertification before and after rare earth mining. This dataset is expected to provide basic data and technical method support for desertification control and transformation in the study area in the future.
